A Wealthy Man Has All He Needs is a side tale in Ghost of Tsushima.
Synopsis[]
Jin Sakai encounters a survivor camp where a merchant is making threats to the survivors. Jin approaches the merchant and asks why he is making threats. The merchant introduces himself as Saburo, and tells Jin that he had planned to escape Tsushima with his family, and paid smugglers to get them past the Mongol naval blockade around the island. Saburo was to meet with his family in the camp, and then sail for the nearby Iki Island. However, he did not find his wife and child in the camp, and demands information from the survivors in the camp as to their whereabouts.
Jin begins probing for information, asking the people in the camp if they had seen a woman and child in the area recently. One survivor becomes increasingly nervous at Jin making inquiries, and runs away from the camp. Jin subdues the survivor, and asks why he ran. The survivor explains that he did see Saburo's wife and child, being led away by smugglers. The survivor followed the smugglers, but was caught, and the smugglers threatened to kill him if he told anyone what he saw. Jin also asks where the smugglers were taking the wife and child, and the survivor answers that they were heading westward, to Umugi Beach.
Jin travels to Umugi Beach and finds a group of smugglers, ready to rob and kill a group of people. Jin interrupts and kills the smugglers, saving the group. Jin searches the beach and finds a woman and child, both dead. Jin takes the child's toy and returns to the survivor camp. When Jin shows the toy to Saburo, he confirms it is his child's toy. Jin explains that the smugglers had lied to him, and their intention was always to rob unsuspecting people who believed they could escape the island. Saburo is in disbelief, but Jin tells him the only thing he can do now is to bury his family, and support the people of the island with the money he has.
After the tale's completion, Jin visits the survivor camp and meets Saburo again. He holds a short conversation with Jin, reflecting on how he only tried to escape Tsushima because of his wealth, and that his family could still be alive had he not been wealthy. He mentions plans to visit Kushi Temple to become a monk.

Rumored | There's been restlessness at some of the camps across Tsushima. I don't blame them. But what I can't allow is them turning on one another. If we don't stick together, the Mongols will win. |
Encountered | Sounds like a disturbance at a survivor camp. We have to support each other. Maybe I can help. |
Begin tale | I found a man threatening a refugee camp. His family is missing, as are the smugglers he paid to take them off Tsushima. He believes the camp knows where they went. I need to find out if that's true before his distrust leads to more than idle threats. |
