Bandits are the common criminals in the island of Tsushima. They serve as a hostile faction in the game that attacks both the good people of Tsushima and Mongols alike. While they reside in either Izuhara or Toyotama, they are more common in Izuhara, appearing only in the wild there. Because they have no loyalty than to themselves, they will pick a fight with anyone that is not a Bandit, including Mongol warriors and the Ronin.
Gameplay[]
Bandits consist of swordsmen, spearmen and archers, equipped with very low-grade equipment, not even wearing any proper armor. As they are not properly trained soldiers, Bandits do not possess much defensive capabilities nor any complicated attack strategy, thus are predictable. However, they are much more aggressive and reckless, which causes them to deal as much damage as low tier Mongols at the least.
Swordsmen[]
Although wielding Japanese blades, Bandit Swordsmen lack the poise and art of a Samurai. The most common unit the player will encounter when it comes to Bandits, there isn't much to be said about Bandit Swordsmen.
Archers[]
Wielding simple half bows, Bandit Archers provide the bar minimum support fire, shooting occasionally at enemies while shouting to allows that they will attack. While they can be an annoyance in groups, they are very vulnerable when approached at melee range or when on their own.
Spearmen[]
Bandit Spearmen will wield a makeshift spear made of bamboo and stone, possessing the Unblockable attacks that Mongol Spearmen have. However, similar to the Swordsmen, Bandit Spearmen only have one strategy when it comes to attacking as they will only thrust one at a time, making their attacks easy to dodge.
Presence[]
Only appearing in the Izuhara region, being a prominent secondary enemy to the Mongols during Act 1, the player will encounter the Bandits either as part of Tales or in small groups that act as an enemy. Compared to the Mongols, Bandits lack variety and will only have small groups to work with.
Even after the successful takeover of Castle Kaneda at the end of Act 1, Bandits remain active in the Izuhara region.
Random Spawn[]
Jin will encounter some situations involving Bandits in the wild, although the kinds of situations they are observed in are much more limited than the Mongol Soldiers. These Bandits will remain active even after the end of Act 1.
- Roam: Compared to the Mongols who will have regular patrols, the Bandits can be found roaming the same roads in a similar fashion, although it is obvious they are not attempting to provide scouting info to allies outside the group. These groups range from two to four warriors. Players receive minor Legend gain from killing a group.
- Pillage: Bandits will resort to killing villagers or refugees on the road. Jin will find them scavenging the bodies, with one small lootable crate being in the middle of them. While most often there will be two to four Bandits scavenging, there is also a chance for only one Bandit to be present. Rewards minor Legend gain from killing the group; the player can also check out the small crate for decent loot.
- Hunting: Sometimes, there will be Bandits who are attempting to hunt a Bear. No more than two warriors will be fighting off the bear. While killing these Bandits won't reward any Legend gain, the player can take advantage of the situation to attain loot off of them.
- Skirmish: Bandits can sometimes be found snooping through the wild, attempting to ambush a group of Mongols. While killing these warriors won't reward any Legend gain, the player can take advantage of the situation to attain loot off of them.
Occupied Sites[]
Bandits can only be found at occupied sites when it is a Tale-bound sites, which only occurs during Act 1.
