Clan Kikuchi was one of the dominant samurai clans of Tsushima and Clan Adachi's rivals. The clan was destroyed during the Battle of Komoda Beach.

History[]

Presumably having once been subjects of Clan Yarikawa, the Kikuchi family sought to break ties with them, and took up the ambitious task of venturing to the frozen lands to the north of Tsushima, aiming to tame the region and eke out a new life for themselves.

The plan worked spectacularly when the Kikuchi built the island’s largest trading port, and Clan Kikuchi became one of Tsushima’s five major clans.

Gameplay[]

When returning 55 sashimono banners to the monk at Komatsu Forge, the player will learn about Clan Kikuchi from the following conversation:

I must confess, the emblem of Clan Kikuchi is a strange one to me
― Monk

It symbolizes the mighty Winter lords. They say Kikuchi’s warriors took comfort from the cold and dark of Kamiagata. They also say living there made them harsh and stubborn. At clan gatherings, they usually kept to themselves. When they didn’t, there was often a quarrel that ended in a duel. But when the call went out to gather at Komoda, Lord Kikuchi and his men didn’t hesitate to join us.
― Jin

I admire your honesty, my Lord. It’s important to remember that even samurai are flesh and blood
― Monk

If players possess the Headband of Uncertainty, start a New Game+ and refrain from doing the Haiku again, the item description of said headband reveals more about the clan. Clan Kikuchi was implied to be close, if not one and the same, with Clan Yarikawa before "breaking ties" and moving north to Kamiagata.

Trivia[]

  • The Headband of Uncertainty's description states: "Centuries ago, the Kikuchi family braved uncertainty to break ties with the Yarikawa clan and tame the frozen north. The gamble paid off when the Kikuchi family established the island's largest trading port―and became one of Tsushima's five great clans."
  • The record, "Conversations with the Kahn 2" reveals that Clan Kikuchi has had tensions with Clan Adachi. This is likely a hint towards Hana being resentful of her younger sister Lady Masako.
