Eagle Tribe

The Eagle Tribe are a Mongolian tribe who invaded the island of Iki and are the main antagonistic force in the Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island DLC. They are led by the shaman Ankhsar Khatun, otherwise known as "The Eagle", with many of their warriors wearing purple uniforms. The Eagle Tribe seeks to use a spiritually-breaking approach to force Jin Sakai and the people of Iki to surrender before moving on to invade Tsushima and mainland Japan.

Armed Forces[]

The Eagle Tribe is led by Ankhsar Khatun, with the Mongol commander named Khunbish serving as her faithful lieutenant. The Eagle Tribe consists of a large army of former members of Mongol soldiers of different colored uniforms similar to those on Tsushima, with those in purple uniforms unique to the tribe.

Purple-uniformed Mongols can only be encountered on Iki Island and have unique abilites not found among other colored uniformed enemies. These include soldiers who can switch between multiple weapons (Sword and shield, dual-wielding sabers, halberd), brutes who wield double-bladed spears and are resistant to Jin's Stances, and shamans who enhance the abilities and bloodlust of their allies with shamanic chants/songs.

Biography[]

The Eagle Tribe invaded Iki sometime during or after the Mongol invasion of Tsushima as a separate group from Khotun Khan's army. There, they began forcing the Iki islanders to consume a "sacred medicine" created by the Eagle that causes them to suffer agonizing hallucinations in hopes of psychologically breaking the islanders' resistance. The stronghold of Fort Sakai was then occupied by the tribe as their main encampment. The Eagle during this time sent her soldiers throughout the island to continue their conquest while spreading messages as revealed in Records of Iki that encouraged the islanders to submit and accept a peaceful rule under the Mongol Empire.

An unknown time later, the Eagle sent a group of her tribe to begin invading the coast of the Toyotama region of Tsushima. Jin soon learns of their presence during his investigation of Tsushima islanders being driven insane by the tribe's sacred medicine. After fighting off the Eagle Tribes' shamans, Jin makes plans to head to Iki Island to further investigate the Mongol presence there.

After Jin arrives, one of his first destinations is Fort Sakai where he is defeated by Khunbish and brought to the Eagle, who forces him to consume her sacred medicine. Jin then escapes, continuing his journey to defeat the Eagle Tribe throughout Iki.

The Eagle eventually leaves Fort Sakai, with Khunbish taking charge of operations in the stronghold. Jin uses this opportunity to liberate the fort with the assistance of Iki raiders, killing Khunbish in single combat and ending the Mongol occupation of stronghold as the remaining Eagle Tribe fled in terror.

The Eagle and her tribe then moved to the coast where Jin's father was killed to await a confrontation with the resisting islanders. There, they defended from an ambush from Jin and his raider allies. The Eagle finally faces Jin in a duel where she is defeated after he overcomes the effects of her sacred medicine, with the rest of the surviving Eagle Tribe either being killed or scattered throughout Iki afterward.
