Lord Harunobu Adachi (安達 晴信; Adachi Harunobu) was a samurai and Lord of Clan Adachi, and descendant of the legendary Yoshinobu Adachi. He was married to Masako Adachi, but was killed on the night of the Mongol invasion, at the Battle of Komoda Beach.
Biography[]
Harunobu Adachi was Lord of Clan Adachi and also known as the best swordsman on Tsushima. When he was younger, he met Masako when she was fending off bandits, causing him to become interested in her and pursued her as his wife. Together they had two sons: Shigesato and Yasunari. At some point, he discovers the secret relationship between a thief named Mai with Masako, that convinced him to have her banished from their Clan instead of having her flogged. Masako at first says Jin that Lord Adachi wanted to flog Mai because he caught her stealing, but later it's revealed that it's because he discovered the secret relationship between her and his wife.
He served alongside the Sakai clan during the Invasion of Iki Island, before being forced to retreat with the remaining clan members when Lord Kazumasa Sakai was killed and the raiders were moving in against them. After the death of Jin's father, Lord Adachi and his wife Masako went to his funeral. Before the Battle of Komoda Beach, he went into the Mongol camp to confront Khotun Khan, demanding that he send his strongest warrior to challenge him. The Khan responds to Adachi's challenge by dousing him with oil and setting him on fire before beheading him. Lord Adachi's sons died during the battle as well, their corpses being hung from a tree.
Sometime after the battle, Masako traveled to Komoda Beach to search for her fallen husband and sons, the latter with Jin's assistance. Since the trip to the Adachi Cemetery in Ariake was too dangerous, they buried Lord Adachi and his sons next to the Komoda Lighthouse.
Trivia[]
- The Hero of Tsushima Armor from the Digital Deluxe Edition/Collector's Edition/ Director's Cut is the armor Lord Adachi wears (with the Adachi Half Mask). His horse is equipped with the Cloudless Dash saddle.
- In New Game+, when his full set of armor is worn by Jin (with the Adachi Dragon Mask from Baku the Voiceless) a red stain appears where Khotun Khan splashed oil on Lord Adachi.
