Hidden in Snow is a side tale in Ghost of Tsushima.
Synopsis[]
Jin Sakai arrives in Sago Mill. The town is deserted save for a few men who all greet Jin nervously. Sota, the person in charge, explains that he and his people are wary of strangers because of encounters with Mongols and bandits. Jin offers his help but Sota declines, saying that their real problems—disease and starvation—cannot be solved with a blade.
Still suspicious, Jin decides to investigate the village further. He meets a peasant who claims that the villagers are hiding something. The peasant leads Jin to another area of the village where Jin finds several men's corpses. They all appear to have been killed by weapons despite Sota's claim that most of the villagers died from illness. He also finds tattered women's clothes, crates with scratch marks, and sets of footprints. He follows the footprints out of the village to a nearby Mongol-occupied farm. Jin defeats the Mongols and frees their prisoners, who turn out to be women from Sago Mill. He offers to lead them back home, but they refuse. According to the women, the remaining men of the village had allowed the Mongols to take them away without a fight.
The women stay behind to make a new life for themselves. Meanwhile, Jin returns to Sago Mill and orders all of the men to face him. He scolds them for allowing the Mongols to take the women away and prepares to kill them all. However, Sota speaks up and takes responsibility for their actions. Jin either executes Sota alone and allows the other men to leave, or kills them all.
Women of Sago Mill Seen Again
Jin revisits the farm and holds some short conversations with the people there.
After the tale's completion, Jin visits the farm from which he rescued the women. The women are gathered around a campfire. The earlier peasant who helped Jin is there also, and comments that he finds the farm peaceful despite the ongoing war. Jin informs one of the women that he dealt with the men of Sago Mill.
