Honor Buried Deep is a side tale in Ghost of Tsushima.

Synopsis[]

After liberating Azamo Bay, Jin Sakai encounters a citizen, Hyoe, that brings Jin his shop to discuss his neighbor, Haruo's clandestine activities at night. Hyoe followed his neighbor to a cemetery and witnessed a meeting with bandits. Jin goes out to the cemetery to investigate and notices a recent fire, some bloody bandages and a half-eaten meal. Jin goes outside, hides in the pampas grass and waits for the neighbor to return.

When Haruo and the bandits return, Jin secretly follows and sees them burying an Inari statue. Jin confronts the bandits, who explain that since the Mongols are known to destroy everything, they decided to hide their sacred artifacts so they do not get destroyed if another raid were to happen. A few more bandits approach, saying that the Mongols have found their location.

Jin asks the bandits who are able to fight to join him, and together, they defeat the Mongols. Jin speaks with the bandit and discovers that there are some villagers inside the house who were also hiding from the Mongols. Jin asks the bandit to help escort them to Azamo Bay, where they will be safe.

Upon reaching Azamo Bay, Jin assures the gatekeeper that the bandits protected the villagers and will help protect Azamo Bay. The gatekeeper obliges, and the bandit thanks Jin for allowing him to prove himself an honorable man.
