How dare you trespass on Tadayori's sacred ground! You dishonor Tadayori's legacy, thief!
― Kaede
Kaede is a female samurai. She is the last of Tadayori Nagao's line.
Biography[]
Kaede guards Tadayori's Rest for an unknown period of time, killing trespassers seeking to dishonor her ancestor's legacy. Though related to Clan Nagao due to being a descendant of Tadayori, it is uncertain if Kaede identified with her relations to the clan beyond her ancestry.
One day, Jin Sakai, seeking Tadayori's Armor to use against the Mongol invasion, tracked down the rest and began to search for clues there. When Kaede discovers Jin's presence, she swiftly confronts him. Jin reveals his identity to Kaede, but Kaede believes he is a scavenger pretending to be a samurai, under the belief that he is there to steal from Tadayori. Kaede then engages Jin in a duel. Upon seeing Jin's impressive skills with a sword, Kaede realizes he is telling the truth and sheathes her blade just as Jin gained the upper hand.
After apologizing for the misunderstanding, Kaede tells him that Tadayori's armor was lost, but notes a line from an old scroll: "Tadayori watches over Azamo Bay for eternity." She suspects it's a clue to the hidden location, which Jin deduces must be the cliffs overlooking the bay. Kaede notes that Tadayori's armor gave him great speed and deadly aim, and makes Jin promise to wear it in defense of the innocent, just as Tadayori did to defend Azamo Bay.
