Nattou and the Sake Seller (Kenji Tale 2 of 3) is a side tale during Act 2: Retake Castle Shimura.
Synopsis[]
Jin encounters Kenji waiting by a lamppost. Kenji claims that a nearby Mongol camp is full of resources. Kenji suggests that they should loot the camp now while the Mongols are away from their camp on a raid. Jin agrees to follow Kenji and finds his claim to be true. Jin helps Kenji loot the resources.
Kenji mentions not to check one of the yurts, which arouses Jin's suspicion. Jin finds Nattou–Kenji's friend, inside and restrained in ropes. Kenji and Nattou explain that they stole resources from ronin to sell to the Mongols in this camp, though the Mongols refused to pay and took Nattou hostage. At that moment, the Mongols return to their camp, but ronin also appear at the camp thinking the Mongols stole their resources. A three-way fight ensues between Jin, the Mongols, and the ronin. Kenji and Nattou accidentally release a bear from a bear cage, and accidentally lock themselves in said bear cage for protection.
Jin defeats both Mongols and ronin, and releases Kenji and Nattou from the bear cage. Jin berates Kenji for his actions, but Kenji claims his intentions were always to deliver the resources to the survivor camp in Old Yarikawa. Jin commands the two to gather all the resources in the Mongol camp, and that he should see the survivor camp full of food and medicine when he visits.
After the tale's completion, Jin visits the survivor camp where he meets Nattou again. Nattou confirms all the resources were given to the survivors.
