Lord Sakai. You were destined to wear that armor into battle.
― Lord Shimura
The Sakai Clan Armor set is an armor set obtained during the Tale "Ghosts from the Past". It was originally worn by Jin's father, Kazumasa Sakai, and preserved at the Sakai Estate after his death. As the only child of the late Lord Sakai, Jin was originally meant to wear this armor into the Battle of Komoda Beach, however he chose to wear the Samurai Armor of Clan Shimura instead due to his guilt in failing to prevent his father's death. Thus, the Armor remained at the Estate under the care of the caretaker Yuriko and her assistant Taichi, and it would remain there until Jin reclaimed the armour set during his time in Toyotama before the attack on Castle Shimura. Its enhancements focus on increased damage and open combat.
Gameplay[]
Sakai Clan armor effects are designed to give Jin an increase in melee damage and health. Additionally, this armor set increases the Standoff streak. Consequently, this armor set gives Jin an advantage in Standoffs and general melee combat. These effects also stack with Charm of Inari's Might, which increases health and Melee damage by a Massive amount.
Due to this armor set being the only one to have a maximum Standoff streak of 5, this armor set must be used in order to obtain the "All in the Wrist" trophy.
When beginning the Tales of Iki, the player will be locked out of all the Sakai Clan Armor dyes except Jin from Yarikawa (which will use the Level one appearance with a Clan Yarikawa emblem on his chest armor) alongside both Sakai Clan Helmets, this lock will be removed after completing Massacre at Kidafure Village. The player can also claim a unique skin of the armor by completing the riddle at the Shrine of Ash on Iki Island, which is based off the design of Kratos, the protagonist of the God of War series.

Trivia[]
- If Jin uses the Sakai Clan Armor when going to Lord Shimura's camp to start the Tale "A Message in Fire", Lord Shimura will compliment Jin, saying that he's destined to wear it.
- If the player enters the Sheltered Campsite with the Sakai Clan Armor before starting The Legacy of Kazumasa Sakai, the village inhabitants will run away from Jin, preventing the player from starting the quest. One can simply just switch to a different armor set to start the quest.
- While it is previously Kazumasa Sakai's armor, when received by Jin during his return to Omi village, the armor looks drastically different than the one Kazumasa wore in flashbacks. The third level appearance however, looks exactly like Kazumasa's.
- In the Memories of your father flashbacks, the first level appearance is used by younger Jin Sakai in some of the flashbacks.
- The Shrine of Ash riddle can be completed by standing in front of the statue and drawing the Sakai Katana while in the Stone Stance.
