Shino is a woman who resided in Old Kanazawa Marsh in Toyotama with her father. After the death of her father she traveled to Akashima Village to be trained as a healer by her aunt.

Biography[]

Shino was told stories of the River Children or kappa as a child and believes that they exist.

Jin Sakai found her crying in her home and offered to help. She explained that her father had disappeared after they thought they'd seen a kappa in the river at night and claw marks in the soil. She hid whilst her father went outside to scare it away. She heard splashing and screaming, but her father never returned.

Jin eventually found Shino's father dead after being killed not by a kappa but by bandit thieves. They had stolen her father's handcrafted flute.

Jin informed her of what happened to her father, but she struggled to believe a demon wasn't responsible. Jin explained that desperation can bring out the demon in the best of men and asked her if there's somewhere she can go. She tells Jin she will go to Akashima to be with her aunt.

Jin gave Shino her father's flute, which gave her comfort as she felt like a part of her father would travel to Akashima with her.

She eventually decided to get training from her aunt to become a healer. In Akashima Village, during her final conversation with Jin, she informs Jin of this. She also thanked Jin for his help and confirmed she came across no demons or thieves on her journey to Akashima.
