Ishikawa: When I was your age, people thought I was the next Tadayori Nagao...

Jin: You're the best archer we've ever had.

Ishikawa: ...I'm not even close.

Tadayori Nagao (長尾 忠頼; Nagao Tadayori) was a legendary archer from Tsushima. Kaede was his last living descendant.

History[]

Born centuries before the first Mongol invasion of Japan, Tadayori was famed for his remarkable skill in archery (even among the talented archers of his clan) and wisdom. His most notable accomplishment was single-handedly defeating a group of pirates attacking Azamo Bay. According to legend, Tadayori's armor belonged to the kami Hachiman, who gifted it to the archer for his talent.

Tadayori died peacefully at his home.

Legacy[]

Much about Tadayori, including the location of his armor, had been lost to history by the time of the first Mongol invasion. However, the legend surrounding his mystic armor survived, and was used by Jin Sakai to locate the armor and use it against the Mongol invaders.

On Iki Island, a Memorial was made by the Raiders to commemorate those who fell in battle against Tadayori.
