The Art of Seeing (Yuriko Tale 2 of 2) is a side tale during Act 2: Retake Castle Shimura.

Synopsis[]

Seeing that Yuriko is not feeling well, Jin Sakai offers to take her to Akashima, but she asks him for one more indulgence to visit someplace special before she goes to see the healers. They begin their ride through the Serene Forest to an onsen: Maple Shade Hot Spring. When Jin asks why they are there, Yuriko's mind believes Jin is Kazumasa again, saying she knows he is weighed down with (the death of) Lady Sakai and the little one, but then stumbles back feeling faint and admitting she hasn't eaten in at least a day. Jin goes hunting some food Yuriko can eat but returns to find Yuriko has wandered off, so he follows her horse's hoofprints. Jin finds his caretaker on the ground and rushes to her side to help. Thankfully, she is not hurt, but is greatly confused and became lost when she saw her long-deceased mother, so she asks Jin to help her pay her respects to her mother and they travel to a small burial site at the base of Turtle Rock Shrine. They sit down at the edge of the overlook and Yuriko's confusion has become worse, now only referring to Jin as Kazumasa, but Jin does not correct her. She confesses that Lady Sakai had already passed, Kazumasa had brought Jin home after he was lost in the forest for 3 days and how happy she was to have been able to spend more time with him – that the day at the onsen was the best day of her life. Did that make her a bad person for her happiness? After telling Jin, who she still thinks to be Jin's father, they both look out onto the vast scene of Tsushima. Jin, after describing different landmarks of which Yuriko comments on, reminiscing on each, finds her motionless, still sitting down, with her eyes closed, as she had passed away peacefully thinking about the past.
