The Coward of Yarikawa is part of the main story campaign, Jin's Journey, during Act 2: Retake Castle Shimura.
Synopsis[]
Having to prove himself to the steward of Yarikawa, Jin Sakai must search for the missing archers in the Ruins of Old Yarikawa. Yuna goes with Jin to help, and so does Taka, much to Yuna's dismay. Since Taka isn't much of a warrior, Jin allows him to help in other ways, but Yuna is still reluctant. After investigating the ruins, including a surprise encounter with a bear, they find the archers and discover more Mongols approaching the ruins. They must plan their ambush at the right moment to lessen the number of Mongol enemies they will have to fight at the stronghold.
Objectives[]
- Meet Yuna at the Ruins of Old Yarikawa
- Examine the area around the dead Mongols
- Follow the mud tracks to a small house
- Search the house for the archers
- BEAR!
- Speak with Yuna near the campfire
- Search the explosives cart for more clues and follow more mud tracks down the hill
- Crouch down to follow, then approach the archers
- Survey the Mongol camp
- Trigger the ambush at the right time: Use fire arrows to shoot the barrels of explosives as the middle of the convoy passes to the cart
- Defeat the Mongols: The explosion, if done correctly, should eliminate a majority, if not all of the first round of Mongol enemies. There will be another round of enemies, both ranged and melee, that will attack you and your new allies. Defeat them any way you see fit
- Speak with Daikoku to end the mission
Journal Entry[]
Yarikawa Stronghold is under Mongol siege, and their best archers have gone missing. If Yuna and I can return them safely home, they can aid the town's defense - and we will prove our good intentions. I will meet Yuna in Old Yarikawa to begin the search.
