The Legacy of Kazumasa Sakai is a Mythic Tale in Iki Island. Wearing the Sakai Clan Armor will prevent this tale from beginning. Simply switch to a different armor set outside of the campsite to avoid this.
Synopsis[]
Jin Sakai arrives at the sheltered campsite in eastern Iki, wondering if the peasant survivors would welcome his company. He settles down at a campfire, introducing himself to the peasants and an elderly man named Jiro that he was only a traveler. Jiro begins to tell the story of the samurai invasion years ago, focusing on the brutality of Kazumasa Sakai and how his horse was killed in an ambush at Senjo Gorge. Jin interrupts the story, outraged that Jiro was lying about what actually happened before revealing his identity as Kazumasa's son. Jin and Jiro confront the other before calming down, with Jin wanting to know where his father's horse armor was so he could use it in the fight against the Eagle Tribe. Jiro refuses to tell, with the other peasants forcing Jin outside.
Jin decides to sneak back inside the campside, eavesdropping on Jiro's continued story to learn the Sakai horse armor was used by many others before being taken aboard a merchant ship years ago that crashed into Zasho Bay. Jin heads to that location, swimming and using his grapple hook to navigate through the shipwrecked fleet and retrieve the long lost horse armor. The armor was then equipped onto Jin's horse once he returned to shore. A moment later, Jin discovers the Eagle Tribe is attacking the campsite and charges his horse into battle to defend the peasants. Afterward, Jiro approaches to thank to Jin, commenting that he was more merciful than Kazumasa ever was.
