The Tale of Ryuzo is a Tale of Tsushima that is part of the main story campaign, Jin's Journey, during Act 1: Rescue Lord Shimura.
Synopsis[]
Jin Sakai meets Ryuzo at the Takuzudama Cemetery, where one of the Straw Hat Ronin comes back to advise them that there are many Mongols at Fort Ohira. Jin comes up with a plan to light the fire at Tsutsu Lighthouse, signaling Ryuzo and his men to begin their attack. After their skirmish, Jin and Ryuzo find no food at the fort, but Ryuzo finds a note written in Chinese (Jin tells Ryuzo that he was required to read Sun Tzu) that states the Mongols are moving the food onto a ship. Jin and Ryuzo devise a plan that has Ryuzo's archers shooting Flaming Arrows at explosive barrels to cause a distraction, while Jin and Ryuzo can steal a rowboat without being detected.
Jin and Ryuzo reach the first Mongol ship, fight their enemies, and look for food. They have little success and decide to search the remaining ships. Jin and Ryuzo each take a ship, but neither one finds any food. However, Jin finds a scroll with a map detailing Mongol supply lines.
Jin hears a cry for help from Ryuzo. As he goes towards the cry, Jin notices the stockpile of food that the Mongols had stolen. Jin reaches the bow of the ship and finds Ryuzo incapacitated by a heavy Mongol soldier. Jin defeats the soldier and helps Ryuzo recover.
Mongol forces from another ship start firing Flaming Arrows at Jin and Ryuzo, forcing them to jump ship and swim back to shore. Ryuzo remarks that he is going back to his men empty-handed again. After a brief disagreement, Jin gives Ryuzo the map and asks that Ryuzo help him free Lord Shimura.

Journal entries[]
My old friend Ryuzo has fallen in with the mercenary Straw Hat ronin. He seems to be their leader, and he's agreed to help me save Lord Shimura on one condition: I help recover food for his starving band of Straw Hats.
Ryuzo will meet me at a cemetary near Fort Ohira, where the Mongols are hoarding stolen food.
― Jin's journal, before starting the Tale
Ryuzo and his band of starving Straw Hat ronin need food if they're going to be in fighting shape to rescue my uncle. We hoped to recover food from the Mongols at Fort Ohira, but the invaders had already moved everything to their offshore ships.
It looks like Ryuzo and I need to steal a Mongol ship.

Trivia[]
- Sometime during the development of Ghost of Tsushima, this Tale was named "Stray Dogs" with the description being the following: "Ryuzo has agreed to help save Lord Shimura if I help him find food for his men."[1]
- During the lighthouse raid section of the Tale, Jin can try to kill all the Mongol soldiers in the camp stealthily by themselves. Should the attempt be successful, the objective to signal the Straw hats will be skipped and Ryuzo would just walk into the lighthouse encampment claiming he wouldn't have needed to bring all the men he had at the moment seeing what Jin did.
