Yarikawa Stronghold (Hiragana: やりかわのまち; Kanji: 鑓川の街; Romanji: Yarikawa no machi) is a fortified town and home to Clan Yarikawa. It is ruled by the steward Ujimasa Yarikawa.

History[]

Clan Yarikawa was once one of the most prominent samurai families on the island. After a failed rebellion, the Yarikawa Rebellion, the clan was largely dissolved - and the survivors built the walled town of Yarikawa as their new home. The town is crossed by multiple canals, a unique layout in comparison to the other villages in Tsushima.

Taka and Yuna were natives to the town.

Yarikawa was subject to a Mongol siege during their invasion of the island but its inhabitants were able to defeat their besiegers with the help of the Jin Sakai.

The town's warriors then joined Lord Sakai and participated in the Siege of Castle Shimura.

Trivia[]

  • The Kanji for Yarikawa consists of the characters for "spear" (鑓) and "river" (川). The town's name thus translates to "Spear River".
