Yasuhira Koga was a retainer for Clan Yarikawa. He is also an expert swordsman and fierce enemy of Clan Shimura.

Biography[]

Yasuhira worked as a retainer for Clan Yarikawa until after the Yarikawa Rebellion, when the Clan was dissolved and the retainers, including Yasuhira, dismissed. For 15 years, Yasuhira left Tsushima and was largely unheard from again until the Mongol Empire's Invasion of Tsushima, at which point he returned to the island and allied himself with the Mongols. Seeking revenge on Lord Shimura for his part in suppressing the Yarikawa rebellions, Yasuhira worked to learn Heavenly Strike, an attack that struck quicker than the eye could follow. He confronted the musician Yamato for the tale of the Heavenly Strike, but when Yamato did not give him the answers he sought, he flew into a rage and slaughtered several innocent bystanders.

These sadistic actions caught the attention of Lord Shimura's nephew, Jin Sakai, who worked to track down Yasuhira and exact justice for his crimes. Yasuhira made a base of operations at a nearby Mongol outpost and looked through the Mongols' version of the Heavenly Strike tale to compare it to Yamato's, leading to a search for Shigenori's Rest, an ancient dueling ring. Collecting white leaves, Yasuhira deduced that a trail of white leaves would show him the way to the Heavenly Strike. He and the Mongols kidnapped a peasant, whose grandfather resided at the dueling ring. Yasuhira and the Mongols cut down a tree to get access to Shigenori's Rest, where they tracked down the peasant's grandfather. Yasuhira forced the peasant's grandfather to teach him the Heavenly Strike, and then murdered him.

Yasuhira was subsequently confronted by Jin, who had retraced his steps and killed the Mongols that accompanied him. Yasuhira reminds Jin that he was only a boy during the rebellions and admits that he had always dreamed of cutting Lord Shimura to the bone. Jin declared that Yasuhira would not live long enough to face him, and Yasuhira, eager to test out the Heavenly Strike on Jin, engaged him in a duel. Yasuhira, being a fast and capable swordsman, was able to hold his own against Jin for sometime. Jin studied Yasuhira whenever he performed the Heavenly Strike. Eventually, Jin was able to replicate the Heavenly Strike on Yasuhira, who was then struck by a bolt of lightning and burned to death.
